We can't offer refunds but we do have a re-homing service. We understand circumstances can change and want to make sure your fish are well taken care of. Just hold on to our number and call us should you need to discuss options.
Diagnosing fish diseases requires specialised knowledge and diagnostic tools, including laboratory analyses. As a retail operation, we do not possess the necessary resources or expertise to accurately diagnose fish diseases. Providing such services without proper facilities and training could lead to misdiagnosis and inappropriate treatments, potentially harming the fish and the ecosystem.
For accurate diagnosis and treatment of fish diseases, we recommend consulting a qualified aquatic veterinarian or a specialised fish health professional. They have the expertise and equipment to perform necessary tests and provide appropriate care. Additionally, maintaining optimal water quality and proper husbandry practices are crucial in preventing many common fish diseases.
We are open by appointment as our availability is heavily tied to our commitments with Pond Works which takes us all over Queensland. As this is our primary residence where we raise our child along with various animals, including a rescue dog, we do insist on appointment only. Most weeks, we have appointment slots available 6 days a week. Get in touch to find the right timeslot for you to come hand-select your own fish.
We prioritise the health and well-being of our fish, as well as the safety of your aquatic environment. Due to the delicate nature of fish health and the potential for disease transmission, we do not offer refunds or returns on live fish. Once a fish leaves our care, we cannot guarantee the conditions under which it will be kept and introducing new fish into an existing aquarium or pond can pose health risks to both the new and existing inhabitants.
Many reputable fish sellers adopt similar policies to protect the health of their fish and the ecosystems they enter. If you have any concerns or questions about the suitability of your setup, please feel free to let us know when enquiring about your fish. We are here to assist you in creating a thriving aquatic habitat.
Delivery is a service exclusive to scheduled Pond Works' maintenance services. Some clients have us pick the fish or water lilies on their behalf, delivering and introducing the fish and lilies to their new pond during scheduled pond maintenance services. If you are not a Pond Works maintenance customer, please book an appointment to come and hand-select your own fish. We look forward to meeting you.

Indoor aquariums are great for both home owners and renters alike. Poly ponds do make it possible for renters to have the pond experience, however with a Pond Works Pond, this is only available to home owners, municipal and commercial properties. The fish we sell do beautifully in large tanks with other fish and also in outdoor ponds. If you're just getting started on your aquatic journey, let us know and we can talk you through the pros and cons of each.
Pre-formed poly ponds allow renters to have the pond experience at home.

To protect your pond fish from predators like herons, there are several effective strategies you can use:
1. Aquatic Plants and Water Lilies: Adding aquatic plants, including water lilies, around your pond provides fish with natural shelter. Dense plant coverage not only gives your fish hiding spots but also reduces their visibility to predators. Water lilies, in particular, create a surface canopy that obscures your fish from view, offering them a secure space to retreat.
2. Netting: Using pond netting over the water’s surface is one of the best ways to prevent predators like herons from accessing your fish. The netting acts as a physical barrier, preventing birds from swooping down to catch your fish.
3. Predator Deterrents: You can also use props such as realistic snake or fox figures placed around the pond. These help deter predators by making them associate the area with danger. Additionally, motion-activated devices that emit sound or spray water can discourage predators from approaching your pond.
4. Other Technologies: There are also high-tech solutions, such as motion-activated sprinklers or sonic repellents, which can further protect your pond by dissuading herons and other predators from coming near.
By incorporating these protective measures, you’ll help keep your pond fish safe and ensure your aquatic environment remains undisturbed.
